At the end of the webinar the participant will be able to:

• Recognise the importance of hate crime reporting through third party reporting centres and services (victim support organisations, community organisation, local authorities; national human rights bodies);
• Describe what elements make a good third party reporting and referral system, leading to increased victims’ access to justice, support and safety;
• Apply this knowledge in practice.

Early last year, the emergence and spread of a new virus-based illness arrived at European shores; few observer in the media or law enforcement were in position to foresee the impact the COVID-19 pandemic would have on daily lives of citizens and law enforcement professionals alike. While governments attempt to keep control of a quickly deteriorating public-health situation by introducing restrictions on free movement, consumer trade and assembly in private and public areas, police and other law enforcement bodies had no choice but to adopt to the disruption of social and professional routines and to enforce previously unimaginable novel rules of “social distancing” and “mask-wearing” on a large scale. In the series of previous CEPOL COVID-webinars some light have been shed on the opportunities for serious and less-serious crime created by the “New Normal” of the pandemic condition and the ways European law enforcement officials having tried to react.

This is the first of two consecutive webinars trying to provide an interim summary birds-eye view after almost a year of policing the COVID-19 from a dedicated analysis & research-perspective. As much has been discussed and speculated in the media and elsewhere, the focus of the presentations is on the systematic collection of facts and figures – and the resulting issues of potential interest for each European law enforcement official on whatever level of hierarchy or position.

The overall objective of this webinar is to inform participants on the outcome of recent analysis and research surveys.

The aim of this webinar is to give an overview of the situation of threats related to non-cash payment fraud during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The participants will gain knowledge about:

• Different trends and typologies of electronic payment frauds (Card Present Fraud and Card Not Present Fraud);
• Public-private cooperation and role of the private sector in combatting non-cash payment fraud.
