Online Course 37/2021: Cyber Intelligence

The aim of the training activity is to enhance cyber-investigative work by providing knowledge and skills to capacitate law enforcement officials to perform roles tracking and analyses and to counter digital security threats in order to produce actionable intelligence.

The learning strategy is focused to enhance the capacity of law enforcement officers to counter digital security threats in order to produce actionable intelligence. The learning process highlights a learner-centred approach and will consist of:

• Independent Learning: reviewing case studies, watching webinars and short videos, studying reading material (12 hours);
• Contact Learning via online forums: forum discussion with other participants, exchange of good practices (5 hours);
• Experiential Learning: practical exercises that need to be analysed by participants (3 hours).

While there is no specific time slot when participants shall be available for completing the course tasks, they should follow the course continuously. Completion of the course would require around 2 hours’ investment / working day from the attending participants during the length of 2 weeks.

Upon completion of the course, the participants are expected to be able to:

1. Map the cyber threats landscape;
2. Outline a risk-analysis tacking in account the cyber threats picture;
3. Align the cyber threats to the operational and tactical view in order develop actionable intelligence;
4. Use analytical visualization and link tools based on the flux of information;
5. Explore and integrate multiple sources of information (e.g. Siena, other International sources);
6. Establish and explore the networks of cyber intelligence stakeholders;
7. Develop cyber intelligence reports;
8. Make predictions about cybercriminal activities.

The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level).

The entire activity will be carried out online on CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd), hence the physical presence of participants will not be required. Participants will need to complete the registration procedure in LEEd in order to get access to the course page.
