This course aims to enhance participants’ knowledge and competences on Organised Crime Groups (OCGs) by exploring the main transnational investigation techniques as well as developments and initiatives taken at the European Union level to combat illegal immigration.

Participants will be able to:

  • analyse the complexity of the activities carried out by OCGs and their modus operandi
  • increase the knowledge of EU initiatives in the area of illegal immigration
  • evaluate and define more precisely the routes used between the source and destination countries for illegal immigration
  • examine repatriation possibilities
  • identify trends related to abuse of legal channels for migration, including the use of fraudulent documents
  • increase the knowledge of types of international cooperation that can be provided, as defined by the Organized Crime Convention
Target Audience: 

Senior police officers and experts combating illegal immigration and/or related crimes (relevant security clearance is required).

19 June 2015

From 21 to 23 April 2015, the cities of Michalovce and Sobrance in Slovakia hosted the CEPOL course 2/2015 on illegal immigration. Participants from 23 EU Member States and Switzerland attended this activity, organised with the support of Hungary, the United Kingdom and the EU agencies FRONTEX and EUROPOL.
