08/2015 Missing Trader Intra Community fraud (MTIC)

The course aims to enhance participants’ knowledge on the instruments and techniques in the fight against MTIC.

Participants will be able to:

  • describe the crime and the use of the “good practice guide” on tackling MTIC
  • summarise the need and the way to provide Europol with information on high level suspects
  • identify ways to exchange information under different legal systems
  • explain third-country cooperation areas and the use of liaison possibilities
Target Audience: 

Law enforcement officers and tax officials investigating economic crimes, particularly VAT fraud.

The International Training Centre of the Hungarian Ministry of Interior (Budapest, Hungary) hosted from 27 to 30 April 2015 the CEPOL course 08/2015 on Missing Trader Intra-Community fraud (MTIC fraud). The course brought together participants from 21 EU Member States plus Switzerland. It offered an opportunity for participants and experts to share experience and best practices and to understand different national regulations in the field of VAT fraud.
