The webinar shall describe how modern intelligence and information analysis can support the fight against cross border cigarette smuggling. In this context first the added value of the European Border Surveillance system (Eurosur) operated by the Member States and Frontex will be presented. The webinar will highlight how the EUROSUR system can detect cross-border excise contraband activities and how that information is exchanged between Member States enabling rapid operational responses on emerging crime threats. Secondly the webinar will present the UK practice on tobacco fraud related criminal intelligence analysis. It will be described how criminal analysis can support, shape, guide law enforcement responses at strategic, tactical and operational level.
