The first of the four module CEPOL course ‘Top Senior Police Officers’ (TOPSPOC) attracted 29 senior police officers from 20 Member States, as well as from Associated countries, Europol and Interpol.

The theme of the first module was the future of policing in Europe, an area of freedom, security and justice serving the citizens. This module, the 8th in CEPOL’s history, was hosted by the French Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Police (ENSP) in Lyon and supported by Austria, France, Estonia and Portugal on 1-5 March 2010.

Strategic Counter Terrorism Course Starts CEPOL’s Academic Year

CEPOL’s Strategic Counter Terrorism Course, attracted 14 participants directly involved in counter terrorism, from 10 Member States.

The aim of the course was, among others, to outline threat assessment methodology, to identify the different backgrounds to terrorism and to recognise effective planning strategies.

Topics covered during the 10 day course included strategic threat assessment; proactive measures to combat terrorism; post-terrorism normalisation and border issues.
