From 11 to 15 April, the French National Police Directorate for Resources and Competencies organised the course 65/2016 “Pan-European football security”. The aim of the course was to increase the effectiveness and harmonisation of the policing of football matches with an international dimension.

Participants could benefit from the expertise of a country - France - responsible for organising the UEFA Euro 2016. Furthermore, the French CEPOL partner collaborated with the Pan-European Football Policing Training Project (PE-FPTP), a world-class professional development course for police officers involved in the policing of football matches, and with the EU Think Tank on Football Security.

Some topics covered at the course included:

  • an integrated approach to football safety, security and service;
  • the content of the EU Football Handbook 2010 related to operational practice;
  • crowd dynamics;
  • the perspectives of football supporters.
