The CEPOL Netork Working Conference will take place in Mondorf-les-Bains, Luxembourg on 10-12 October 2007. The aim of the event is to consider CEPOL's network function and collate proposals and recommendations for strengthening the network in the future.
Since CEPOL was established as an agency of the European Union, the continuing importance of functioning as a network has been central to the organisation.
CEPOL aims to help the National Police Training colleges in the Member States to cooperate in the delivery of training for senior police officers; therefore it is vital CEPOL operates effectively as a network.
The functioning of the network was discussed during the Governing Board meetings in September and November 2006, and a draft policy paper on possible improvements debated. The conference aims to build on these previous discussions.
All participants are expected to take an active part in a series of working groups and to consider and establish a common understanding of CEPOL's network function.
Among other topics, the working groups will assess the network's current strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats; consider the decision-making, budget and development processes; and consider how to improve the level of commitment in the network over the longer-term.
A document summarising the discussions and recommendations will be presented to the Strategy Committee and CEPOL Governing Board.
