EUROMED Police project strengthens capacity to fight illicit firearms trafficking in the North Africa region

The EUROMED Police project implemented a sub-regional training aimed at stepping up the capacity of Maghreb countries to fight illicit firearms and explosives trafficking. The course took place in Tunis from 9 to 13 May and saw the participation of law enforcement officials from Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia, as well as from the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL).

EUROMED Police project builds capacity to tackle cybercrime in the EU Southern Neighbourhood

In the framework of the EUROMED Police Project, 20 law enforcement officials from Israel, Jordan, Morocco, the Palestinian Authority, Tunisia and AFRIPOL took part in a course on Cybercrime investigations. The training was the first regional activity of the project involving countries from across the North Africa and Middle East region.

The activity, which was held between 21-25 March at the premises of the CEPOL Cybercrime Academy in Budapest, Hungary, was organised in close cooperation with the International Training Centre of the Hungarian National Police.

2nd EUROMED Strategic Cooperation Forum sets stage for new police strategy in the region

Representatives from the Southern Partnership Countries, the EU Member States and EC services, paved the way towards the new EUROMED Police Strategy as they convened in Budapest for the 2nd Strategic Cooperation Forum on 16-17 March. The Strategic Cooperation Forum is a high level meeting taking place every year in the framework of the EUROMED Police project and coordinated in strong partnership by CEPOL and Europol.
