The overall objective of the training activity is to ensure the availability of trainers in the Member States to train investigators in the area of Facilitated Illegal Immigration on the use of open source intelligence (OSINT) in their investigations.

The learning strategy is focused to enhance the capacity of European law enforcement officers to train investigators in the area of Facilitated Illegal Immigration on the use of OSINT in their investigations. The learning process highlights a learner-centred approach and will consist of:

Webinar 13/2021: The use of OSINT in facilitation of illegal immigration

The aim of the webinar is to improve investigation techniques in the area of open source intelligence (OSINT) in facilitation of illegal immigration.

By the end of the webinar the participant will be able to:

  • Use OSINT tools and techniques to track down facilitators involved in illegal immigration and interpret this information;
  • Conduct research via social media into possible subjects in the context of facilitating illegal immigration.

  1. Migrant smuggling under the COVID-19 travel restrictions;
  2. Police work under the influence of the COVID-19 situation;
  3. Use of falsified health certifications for travelling of migrants;
  4. Use of the green borders.
