Online Course 63/2022: SIRENE Officers - Level 1
Date:
30 May 2022 to 10 June 2022
Organiser:
CEPOL
Description:

The overall objective of the training activity is to improve the operational cooperation between national competent authorities, such as border guards, the police, customs authorities, immigration authorities and in particular, the SIRENE Bureau in their efforts in maintaining a high level of security within the area of freedom, security and justice of the European Union.

The course is targeting SIRENE operators with at least 6 months (and a maximum of 3 years) of work experience in the SIRENE Bureaux who have knowledge of the SIS Regulations as well as the SIRENE Manual and who apply the relevant provisions in their daily work.

Upon completion of the CEPOL training activity, participants will be able to:

  • Define the main elements of all SIS alert categories in accordance with SIS Regulations;
  • Describe the main procedures for exchange of SIS supplementary information;
  • Apply the provisions of the SIS Regulations, SIRENE Manual and SIRENE Handbook;
  • Select the appropriate SIRENE forms and complete them in the correct way, following the instructions and in line with DEBS;
  • Use the training materials related to SIS and SIRENE available on CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd) in their daily work;
  • Discover the specificities of the national procedures at the level of each MS;
  • Identify methods of cooperating more efficiently and effectively.

The activity involves didactic learning through presentations by subject matter experts and interactive and collaborative learning through group work. The participants will need to exchange ideas with other participants onsite or virtually and complete small tasks/assignments, then share the results of these tasks between each other and debate them collectively.

The activity will take place from 30 May 2022 to 10 June 2022 and participants are expected to study around 3 hours per day during this period in order to be able to complete the activity. While there is a flexibility and learners can progress at their own pace, they shall be available for completing the course tasks and follow the course continuously, on a daily basis. A couple of scheduled/synchronous events are foreseen where learners are all recommended to attend.

The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online on CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd), hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.
