CEPOL Executive Director welcomes delegation from UNOCT
22 September 2022

On 21 September the Executive Director of CEPOL, Ms. Montserrat Marín López, welcomed a delegation from the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) Regional Programme Support Office in Budapest.

The main aim of the meeting was to explore possible areas to enhance cooperation and coordination between the two organisations, with a particular focus on the UN Countering Terrorist Travel Programme, as well as the relevant training opportunities offered by the agency, especially via the CEPOL online learning platform LEEd for EU law enforcement officials.

The recently published CEPOL Operational Training Needs Analysis on Counterterrorism was also highlighted, as it builds upon the strategic training priorities defined by the EU-STNA report 2022-2025, which identified counterterrorism as one of the most important thematic training areas for law enforcement officials to be delivered during the new European multi-disciplinary platform against criminal threats (EMPACT) cycle.

CEPOL Executive Director said:

‘Our fruitful cooperation has already brought results in the development and implementation of CT-related training activities for EU law enforcement, both within the scope of the CEPOL Knowledge Centre on Counter-Terrorism (CKC CT), and the CT INFLOW project. Today we have identified, together with our UNOCT partners, many concrete ways to continue working even more closely in the future, with the aim to respond to the emerging training needs of law enforcement officials in this important field for EU internal security’.
