CEPOL Executive Director visits Paris as part of preparations for French EU Presidency
17 November 2021

In light of the upcoming French Presidency of the Council of the European Union as of 1 January 2022, a CEPOL delegation, led by the agency's Executive Director, Dr. h.c. Detlef Schröder, visited Paris this week.

The visit offered a valuable opportunity to meet with CEPOL’s partners in the country. The CEPOL delegation had fruitful discussions with representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Gendarmerie College (EOGN) and the International Cooperation Directorate (ICD).

Discussions focused on the preparation of the upcoming French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, specifically within the scope of CEPOL’s mandate and activities. On the occasion, the Executive Director of CEPOL noted:

‘CEPOL is looking forward to working even more closely with its French partners during the first semester of 2022, in order to further enrich its training offer for the EU law enforcement community and respond to evolving developments and needs. We also wish France every success in its new important role as of the 1st of January 2022’.

The agency also highlighted the valuable contribution of France to CEPOL activities covering topics such as Cybercrime, Joint Investigation Teams and EMPACT activities, in particular in relation to environmental crime and criminal finance. CEPOL’s partners were also informed regarding the upcoming CEPOL Chairmanship of the Justice and Home Affairs Agencies’ Network in 2022.
