Recruitment at CEPOL

CEPOL recruits Temporary Agents and Contract Agents who are selected through open recruitment procedures.

Staff members are engaged on fixed term contracts, usually for a period of five years. Contracts may be renewed for a further period of up to five years. Any further renewal is indefinite.

Staff members are engaged to work at the agency premises, currently located in Budapest, Hungary.

Further rules applicable to staff members are set out in the Staff Regulations of Officials and Conditions of Employment of Other Servants of the European Communities (CEOS).

CEPOL also engages Seconded National Experts (SNEs) - through call for interest sent to National authorities - and offers traineeships.

CEPOL occasionally engages temporary staff to cover short-term vacancies. The current service provider is CivittaArrow icon.

CEPOL does not accept spontaneous applications and does not keep such applications. Only applications for Temporary and Contract agent vacancies published on CEPOL website and submitted through the online recruitment systemArrow icon can be considered.

Recruitment process

  • All vacancies for staff members are advertised on CEPOL’s website
  • Vacancy notices contain all the necessary information on the post, the eligibility criteria and the selection procedure
  • All applications are screened to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria specified in the vacancy notice
  • All eligible applications are evaluated by a selection panel against the selection criteria defined in the vacancy notice
  • The best-qualified candidates, who obtain the highest number of points within the evaluation, are invited for a written test and interview
  • Interviews are carried out at the agency in front of a selection panel
  • Based on the results of the written test and interviews, the selection panel will establish a reserve list and recommend to the Executive Director of CEPOL, who is the Appointing Authority, the most suitable candidate for the post in question
  • Based on the recommendation of the selection panel, the Executive Director of CEPOL makes a decision on the appointment of the successful candidate
  • Reserve lists may be valid for up to 18 months. Reserve lists may be extended based on the Executive Director’s decision. Inclusion on a reserve list does not guarantee an offer of employment.
