CEPOL is currently conducting a review of its data retention policies to ensure alignment with best practices for data deletion and protection. As part of this process, we have identified some areas where further improvements can be made.
This internal review is being carried out in close coordination with CEPOL’s Data Protection Officer (DPO).
We have also noted that this review may be relevant to some individuals involved in administrative processes affected by last year’s cyberattack. While there is no indication of additional unauthorised access or data misuse, we are taking this opportunity to further assess and strengthen our safeguards.
At this stage, we are proactively engaging with the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS)
to ensure that all actions taken are in line with the highest standards of data protection.
