CEPOL Management Board meets in Budapest

CEPOL Management Board Budapest

The 15th CEPOL Management Board (MB) meeting, chaired by Mr. Costas Veis, took place this week (18-19 November) at the agency’s premises in Budapest.

Discussions during the 2-day meeting included the outcomes of the mid-term review of the agency’s Strategy 2023-2027 and the progress of the Certified Trainers’ Programme initiative. Building on CEPOL’s mandate to strengthen training capacity in the EU by expanding its train-the-trainer model, this initiative aims to develop a pool of certified trainers who will deliver standardised training across EU Member States.  Participants were also updated on the progress of CEPOL’s capacity building projects, including important future initiatives to be managed by the agency’s International Cooperation Unit.

Among the highlights of the meeting’s agenda was a topic on the further development of the concept on CEPOL Knowledge Centres (CKCs) and Centres of Excellence (CoE). This concept entails a network of Member States’ CoE, assisted and coordinated by CEPOL CKCs, aiming to develop a new law enforcement training ecosystem with specialised centres in the Member States

Among other decisions, the MB adopted the Single Programming Document 2026-2028 and the agency’s External Relations Sub-strategy, a document reflecting a forward-looking vision setting out to forge not just functional, but lasting partnerships that maximise the impact of CEPOL’s activities and strengthen the agency’s contribution to collective security and resilience by aligning with both EU security policies and partner country needs. Furthermore, the MB discussed the Annual Reports for 2024 and 2025 of the Data Protection Officer (DPO) and adopted two decisions on data protection, including the internal rules concerning restrictions of certain rights of data subjects in relation to procession of personal data in the framework of the activities carried out by CEPOL.

All MB decisions adopted during this meeting will be available soon on the dedicated page of the CEPOL website. The next CEPOL Management Board meeting is planned to take place in May 2026 in Cyprus, during the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the EU.
