CEPOL supports the development of a terrorism trend report for the Western Balkans

Understanding how terrorism threats evolve is essential for effective prevention and response. To strengthen regional analytical cooperation, CEPOL organised the third Counter-Terrorism Support Network (CTSN) workshop under the WB PaCT project on 8–9 July 2026 in Prague, Czech Republic. The workshop was hosted by the Department of Police Education and Training of the Police of the Czech Republic, whose support contributed to the successful delivery of the activity.

The workshop brought together counter-terrorism specialists from across the Western Balkans to advance the development of the Regional Terrorism Situation and Trend Report. Building on contributions submitted by all beneficiaries, participants consolidated their findings and developed a draft version of the report.

"This report will improve our understanding of how terrorism threats evolve across the Western Balkans, helping us set priorities and improve our preparedness. Bringing together contributions from all Western Balkans partners, it also demonstrates the value of regional cooperation supported by the EU and CEPOL," said Zoran Papić of the State Investigation and Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Building on the progress achieved during the previous CTSN workshops, during which Europol supported the development of the methodology underpinning the Regional Terrorism Situation and Trend Report, the Counter-Terrorism Support Network continues to support cooperation and knowledge exchange among counter-terrorism practitioners across the Western Balkans.
