Activity51/2026/ONS: Schengen evaluation – Internal security measures
The aim of this onsite activity is to support the implementation of the Schengen evaluation and monitoring mechanism (SEMM) established under Council Regulation (EU) 2022/922, while promoting the conduct of objective and comprehensive evaluation visits, by preparing experts for Schengen evaluation visits in the fields of the police cooperation and the large-Scale IT systems.
This activity is implemented by the CEPOL Knowledge Centre on law enforcement cooperation, information exchange and interoperability.

Target audience
The target group of the initial training is experts in the fields of law enforcement cooperation and large-scale IT systems (SIS/SIRENE), with adequate and fresh (3/5 years) experience and knowledge as well as willingness and potential to engage in future evaluation visits. Experts should have comprehensive experience working with the Schengen Information System (SIS), in particular in the N.SIS Office or in the SIRENE Bureau or working in the field of law enforcement cooperation (cross-border police cooperation, SPOCs, PCCCs, cooperation with Europol, EMPACT) at the strategic and/or operational level. They should also have a solid and in-depth knowledge of legal, procedural, operational and technical aspects of the respective policy field as well as a sound knowledge of the core EU legislation in the field of the Schengen acquis.
The expert participating in the training and accomplishing this training (including mandatory final test) successfully, shall be certified and appointed in the pool of experts for the year following the training. Successful trainees will receive Schengen Evaluator’s Certificate from the Commission.
