Online Course 58/2022: International law enforcement cooperation and information exchange

The aim of the activity is to enhance law enforcement cooperation and information exchange related to serious international and organised crime, and terrorism.

Upon completion of the training activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Use procedures and information exchange mechanisms between EU Memeber States, JHA agencies and other relevant partners;
  • Share practical experiences in the use of other tools (e.g. Prüm Decisions, Swedish Initiative);
  • Apply the procedures to access VIS, EURODAC, ETIAS, EES etc. for law enforcement purposes;
  • Use of the Schengen Information System (SIS) in the field of police cooperation and judicial cooperation in criminal mat-ters;
  • Use the EMPACT for detection and investigation of cross border crime;
  • Facilitate cross-border communication and information exchange in cross-border crime investigations;
  • Apply the rules of data protection and other fundamental rights safeguards to the LE information exchange and apply the rules on data quality.

The learning strategy follows a learner-centred approach and interactive, participatory, practical and experiential principles in accordance with andragogy theories.

The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.

The course will be delivered over a period of 5 days, from 14 to 18 November 2022. Participants are expected to study around 1-2 hours per day during this period in order to be able to complete the activity. While learners can progress at their own pace, they will need to be available continuously for completing the course tasks and take the final quiz in order to be able, at the end, to obtain the course certificate. Any scheduled live events where attendance is required in real-time will be announced in the in the confirmation letter and also in the course environment.
