CEPOL strengthens leadership capacities across Moldova's law enforcement institutions

Leadership as a Core Metacompetence EU4SEC MD

Senior law enforcement officials from the Republic of Moldova worked on strengthening their leadership capabilities during the latest training activity organised by CEPOL, under the EU4Security Moldova project. Held in Chișinău from 22 to 26 June 2026, the activity brought together officials in managerial roles from the Ministry of Internal Affairs units.

Effective leadership is a critical capability for driving organisational change and strengthening cooperation. By investing in the development of leaders, the activity aimed to enhance participants' ability to lead strategically and contribute to the long-term development of Moldova's law enforcement institutions.

"The quality of every organisation depends on the quality of its leadership. It is the responsibility of every leader to continuously develop their leadership capabilities in order to guide their teams effectively and respond to evolving challenges," said Mr Mihai Bejenaru Dragos, the lead expert delivering the course.

Additionally, the activity provided a platform for strengthening cooperation across the Ministry of Internal Affairs by bringing together senior representatives from police, border management, emergency response, migration and other law enforcement services. By exchanging experiences and developing a shared understanding of effective leadership, participants reinforced a common approach to organisational development and interagency cooperation.

The activity forms part of the EU4SEC Moldova project, through which CEPOL supports the development of modern, professional and resilient law enforcement institutions in the Republic of Moldova, contributing to closer cooperation with the European Union and alignment with European standards.
