The coronavirus has had a dramatic effect on our European society and drastically changed the daily routine of citizens all over the continent. At the same time, the pandemic also presents an unprecedented challenge for law enforcement and judiciary, who are responsible for maintaining rule of law and security in a profoundly changed environment characterised by economic decline, rising unemployment and uncertainty. In order to face this shifting landscape, organisations like Eurojust have had to accelerate certain organisational-institutional reforms whose far-reaching consequences will remain with us long after the pandemic ends.

How does the coronavirus impact Eurojust’s operations and services? How have EU agencies in the forefront of European cooperation reacted to the pandemic? What can we learn from this radically novel situation and the ongoing change management? How can we further digitalise judicial cooperation and make sure that information and evidence can be exchanged under all circumstances?

Ladislav Hamran, President of Eurojust and Dr.h.c Detlef Schröder, Executive Director of CEPOL will respond to these questions and share their ideas and vision on this highly actual topic during the “Coffee talks – Eurojust – CEPOL”. The coffee talk will take a format of an informal, free-flowing intellectual dialogue between the two like-minded senior EU leaders which could easily take place over a coffee.
