Online Course 3/2021: Drug trafficking
26 April 2021 to 07 May 2021

The overall objective of the training activity is to increase law enforcement capacity in tackling cross-border drug trafficking, including precursors and dismantling organised crime groups by understanding new forms of modus operandi and drug supply chain. The course is organised in the framework of the OAP 2021 of EMPACT Synthetic Drugs/NPS and Cannabis-Cocaine-Heroin priorities within the EU Policy Cycle.

The learning process highlights a learner-centred approach and will accommodate practical and experiential orientated principles. The activity involves didactic learning through lectures and presentations by subject matter experts.

  • Trends and developments in the area of drug production and trafficking
  • Cross-border investigations against OCGs
  • International coordinated approach
  • Drug-related EMPACT priority areas
  • Support by EU agencies
  • Financial investigations and asset recovery

The activity is divided in three learning phases:

  • Independent Learning Phase/Activity stage: 15 hours.
  • Contact Learning Phase/Online discussion: 3 hours.
  • Experiential Learning Phase/Post-course materials: 3 hours.

The course will be delivered online over a period of 2 weeks, between 26 April and 7 May 2021. While there is no specific time slot when participants shall be available for completing the course tasks, they should follow the training continuously. This is important, as they will need to exchange their ideas with other participants virtually and complete tasks/assignments then share the results of these tasks between each other and debate them collectively. Completion of the course would require 1-1.5 hour investment per working day during the length of two weeks.

The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online on CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd), hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.

In case you are interested to attend, please contact your local CEPOL National Unit / CEPOL National Contact Point as soon as possible. Deadline for nominations by CEPOL National Units: 26 March 2021.

Selected participants have to be registered to CEPOL's online Law Enforcement Education platform LEEd where the online activity will take the place.

Target Audience:

Law enforcement officers (police and customs) - practitioners as well as prosecutors/judicial authorities with up to 3-year experience in targeting organised crime groups involved in drug crime (beginner level).

Virtual, accesible through CEPOL's eLearning platform LEEd (after approved registration)
