Excise fraud is taking various forms in the European Union. Certain aspects of the fraud and the related enforcement work are quite stable while other elements are varying due to changing social and economic situation like the current pandemic.

The overall objective of this webinar is to examine via examples of illicit cigarette manufacturing, classic alcohol and tobacco smuggling the permanent features of excise fraud discussing also the new and emerging elements of the crime phenomenon in view of the pandemic situation. The contributing experts from Spain and Estonia will showcase mainly recent cigarette – and an alcohol – cases demonstrating current operational, intelligence and investigative methods from the two geographical corners of the Union. The webinar will concentrate on discussing actual working methods concerning the collection and analysis of intelligence, covert and open investigative steps, cooperation with industry and asset recovery.

Target Audience: 

Law enforcement officers dealing with excise fraud investigations and operations. Customs, police, judiciary officers are all welcome.
