The overall objective of this online training event is to enhance knowledge on the cooperation with Israel in the context of the fight against money laundering and learn from Israeli financial investigation practice.

During the first session of the webinar the Head of the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Section of the Israeli Police will present the internal intelligence and investigative system of Israeli law enforcement focusing on the applied instruments, tools and techniques and the internal cooperation mechanism. The fact that financial investigation and economic crime enforcement is way more than just asset recovery will be emphasised showing how fundamentally financial investigative measures contribute to the build-up of successful organised crime investigative strategies. The related Israeli enforcement logic will be demonstrated by concrete examples of recent crime cases.

In the second presentation of the webinar the Head of the Anti-Money Laundering Coordination Unit will describe how international cooperation, mutual legal assistance works with Israeli authorities pursuing money laundering and terrorist financing investigations and prosecutions. Issues like what kind of cooperation is possible what is not, what kind of information/intelligence the Israeli law enforcement partner requires, in what format, channels of communication, typical timeframe of cooperation will be discussed highlighting good operational examples but also frankly debating the existing limitations.

Target Audience: 

Law enforcement officers specialised in money laundering and financial investigations, serious organised crime investigators, international cooperation and asset recovery specialists.

Police, customs, judiciary, FIU officers are all welcome.
