
This week, the EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) welcomed the CEPOL National Units’ (CNU) representatives in Budapest on the occasion of the 16th CNU meeting, which took place on 10-11 October.
Chaired by the Head of the Hungarian CNU, Mr Andras Gaal, the meeting revolved around topical elements of the agency’s core business with a particular focus on the delivery of training activities for law enforcement officials. Participants were informed about CEPOL’s latest operational developments and had fruitful discussions on how to strengthen cooperation and streamline processes in the future.
During the meeting, CNUs were also briefed regarding the agency’s response to the recent cyberattack and, the process of sending individual notifications to all affected data subjects that has been initiated by CEPOL. The development of a new robust and cyber resilient ICT environment and the steps in the creation of a new eLearning platform were also discussed. Also on the agenda were the exchange programme evaluation, the implementation of CEPOL’s capacity building projects(follow up phases for WB PaCT, CT INFLOW, TOPCOP and EUROMED Police, and EU4Security Moldova) and the activities of Strategic Planning and Directorate Unit and the role of the EU Training Hub Knowledge management sector.
Participants took part in workshop discussions regarding the way forward for online training and knowledge sharing within the scope of the new Learning Management System (LMS). They also had a moderated consultation on the European Cybercrime Training and Education Group (ECTEG) decryption training implementation by CEPOL, including how this training can be implemented at a national level, cascading the knowledge within the law enforcement agencies.
