ISO 2024

The EU Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) is committed to implement internationally recognised management standards, in order to provide high quality training and learning opportunities to the EU law enforcement community.   CEPOL also aims at enhancing services through the effective application of the agency’s Management System, by continuously improving its processes, addressing risks and opportunities and ensuring the Management System is fit for purpose.

To this end, CEPOL successfully passed the surveillance audit conducted in January 2024 by Quality AustriaArrow icon, an accredited certification body for management systems. This year, 14 training activities delivered by CEPOL have maintained or received for the first time the ISO 29993:2017 certification.

ISO 29993:2017 is an international standard evaluating and certifying all processes related to learning services outside of formal education, whether it be face-to-face, online, or both. It enables CEPOL to further develop quality educational solutions and innovations, aimed to address existing and emerging educational needs and concerns of law enforcement officials, so that they can stay ahead of crime.

ISO 29993:2017 certification now covers the following activities:

  1. Open source intelligence (OSINT) and IT solutions (Train-the-Trainers)
  2. Drug crime and markets – strategic analysis
  3. Child trafficking, Forced Criminality and Forced Begging
  4. Document Fraud Investigations
  5. Foreign Terrorist Fighters and High Risk Individuals
  6. Emerging Threats in Terrorist Financing
  7. Darkweb and basics of encryption in Counter-Terrorism
  8. Open source intelligence (OSINT) in Counter-Terrorism
  9. Schengen Evaluation – Internal Security Measures
  10. EU Information Systems (Interoperability)
  11. Live Data Forensics (Train-the-Trainers)
  12. SIRENE I - basic
  13. SIRENE II - advanced
  14. Trafficking in Human Beings – Sexual Exploitation

Furthermore, CEPOL has successfully maintained its ISO 9001:2015 certification, ensuring compliance with this internationally recognised management standard, which sets out the criteria for a quality management system. This standard is based on a number of quality management principles including strong customer focus, motivation and implication of top management, process approach and continuous improvement.
