CEPOL has launched a new and improved search engine in CEPOL’s online learning platform, LEEdArrow icon. This optimisation, known as Global Search, will offer users more in-depth results when performing searches on LEEd. The state-of-the-art technology introduced in the search capability provides added convenience to users and makes it easier for them to locate training products and other types of learning and academic materials available in the platform.

In addition to using keywords, searches can now be performed by applying content filtering options to narrow down results on the basis of search criteria, such as database area, thematic area or time frame. The new engine locates content inside files, forums and training materials. It also operates in integrated 3rd party services, such as EBSCO, the leading provider of research databases, e-journals, magazine subscriptions, e-books and discovery services for academic libraries, or the GOMO video repository for recorded webinars.

On this new Global Search feature, CEPOL’s Head of Operations, Mailis Pukonen, stated:

"Global Search will cut down on the amount of time spent by users searching for training products in LEEd, along with giving better search results than ever before, as the outcome of each product search will now be highly targeted to the selected search criteria. This will offer a better user experience for all participants in our education and training activities. Going forward, we will continue to improve key areas of the platform, always with a focus on the needs of LEEd users".

Global Search is the result of extensive joint efforts between CEPOL and expert contacts in Member States (National LEEd Managers) to incorporate key features and new developments to CEPOL’s learning management system.
