The new CEPOL strategy 2023-2027 was approved this week in Prague, during the 9th Management Board (MB) Meeting taking place on 22-23 November.
Following the conclusions of the 8th Management Board meeting in Lyon (17-18 May), the Executive Director of CEPOL, Ms. Montserrat Marín López, initiated the development of a new strategy by applying a bottom-up approach, ensuring that CEPOL Staff participated actively in the process. The resulting document builds upon the 5-year evaluation report and the observations and recommendations made by the Management Board.
With this new strategy, CEPOL sets out the pathway to become the EU hub for law enforcement training and provide a concerted and systematic EU approach to training. The agency will continue to foster a common EU law enforcement culture, and promote the accreditation of law enforcement vocational training. In order to achieve these goals, CEPOL will also dedicate efforts to optimise processes, workflows and resources and ensure that appropriate infrastructures are in place, thus maximising its contribution to a robust and strong EU security ecosystem.
On the occasion of the adoption of the new CEPOL strategy, CEPOL Executive Director, Ms. Montserrat Marín López underlined:
The adoption of this new strategy is a key milestone for our agency. A lot of work has been done to reach this point, and a lot of work still awaits us in the future. I am confident that CEPOL will deliver on its promise to become a hub of knowledge sharing and exchange at EU level for the law enforcement community.
Regarding CEPOL’s role in assisting non-EU countries in their law enforcement capacity building activities, she noted:
CEPOL will continue to capitalise on its partnerships with non-EU countries in terms of promoting EU values and priorities and facilitating the exchange of good practices within the scope of its mandate.
In Prague, the Management Board also approved the CEPOL Single Programming Document (SPD) for 2023 and was updated, among other topics, on the work of CEPOL’s International Cooperation Projects and the CEPOL Liaison Office in Brussels.
