Statement on the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia

On 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), the European Union Agency of Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) and the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) jointly reaffirm their commitment to uphold and promote EU values, protect fundamental rights, and ensure equal treatment and equality for all.
Equality, freedom, and respect for human rights are core values of the European Union.
We therefore stand with LGBTQIA+ people.

The International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia commemorates the decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases of the World Health Organization (WHO) on 17 May 1990, and is celebrated every year, since its acknowledgement in 2005.
