Joint CEPOL and CPCC activity: Law Enforcement Officials on Civilian CSDP Operational Planning

onsite-103-2022

For the very first time CEPOL, in cooperation with the Civilian Planning and Conduct Capability (CPCC), implemented the joint onsite course 103/2022/ONS: CPCC planners – Civilian CSDP Operational planning.  The course took place at the CEPOL Headquarters in Budapest, Hungary from 17-21 October 2022. The training aimed to prepare future planners of EU civilian crisis management missions. It focused on the complexities of the planning task, describing analytical, planning, decision-making structures and procedures in CSDP Missions.

26 participants from 17 Member States, Europol and the European External Action ServiceArrow icon (EEAS) benefitted from this highly interactive workshop-style event. Attendants worked on a fictitious mission scenario, facing the challenges of the design of an EU civilian mission and developed their own solutions to deal with arising problems.

The experts highlighted the important role of CEPOL’s Law Enforcement Education Platform (LEEd) and of the organisers in preparing and implementing this demanding CEPOL training activity.

The Activity Manager of the course noted:

Due to the format of this course, participants could learn about Civilian CSPD operational planning by preparing their plans in a fictitious scenario. This way, they had the opportunity to feel confident with the newly gained knowledge and be prepared for further training in which they could go deeper in the operational planning process of Civilian CSDP missions.
