Twenty participants from 12 Member States - mainly from Criminal Investigation Departments - took part in CEPOL course 41/2008 Police Cooperation and Europol, held on 17-20 November 2008 in Austria.
Europol handles criminal intelligence and is the European Law Enforcement Organisation that aims to improve the effectiveness and cooperation of the competent authorities in the Member States in preventing and combating terrorism, unlawful drug trafficking and other serious forms of international organised crime.
Hosted by .SIAK (Sicherheitsakademie) of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior and supported by Europol, the aim of the course was to make senior police officers more aware of the services Europol offers to help fight cross-border crime while at the same time, provide a forum for the exchange of information and experiences.
Sandro Frank, Course Manager, said: “The feedback from the participants has been very positive. They welcomed getting a greater insight into the working of Europol and how to increase cooperation.”
The course was held at a training institution of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber in Burgenland, Austria.
