Public Order course took place at the International Training Centre in Budapest

The International Training Centre in Budapest hosted the CEPOL 46/2019 „Public Order-crowd management ” course between 23th and 27th June.

The course was attended by 36 colleagues from 20 Member States, Kosovo and Turkey. The main goal of the 5-day long course was to deepen the knowledge and increase the competence on the level of security requirements for large scale events and of cross-border cooperation in that context, and to improve the threat assessment and management of major public events in order to prevent/effectively contain attacks carried out by lone-actor terrorists or violent lone criminals.

With assistance from EUROPOL Arrow iconas well as several foreign institutions from Romania, France, Belgium and Poland, the Hungarian organisers managed to gather a experts with a diverse background.

The experts shared their valuable knowledge in connection with planning and securing international meetings and summits, crowd management at mass gatherings and cooperation on the borders. Participants visited to the Hungarian Riot Police and CBRN-E Training centre where they were guided by professional Riot Police officers. Their presentations were very interactive, including showcasing of technical tools and vehicles to the audience.

The visit to the Puskás ArénaArrow icon, which will be one of the venues of the UEFA Euro Championship in 2020, was a fulfilling experience to everyone.

The learners were very engaged and had many questions. Some gamification was imbedded with a competition applied that made participants even more enthusiastic.
