How to Combat Transnational Organised Crime and Global Terrorism Networks more effectively? The Integration of the Crime-Terror-Nexus, Social Network Analysis and Artificial Intelligence as a Future-Oriented Law Enforcement Approach
Responding to the fact that transnational organized crime and global terrorism not only represent two of the major threats to public security in themselves but also have shown a strong tendency to interact, this paper analyses how the concept of crime-terror nexus (CTN) that accounts for an improved understanding of the interdependencies of formations of criminal and terrorist organizations, and the analytical approach of social network analysis (SNA) can be combined and this joint approach eventually enhanced by the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in order to present viable tools for law enforcement practice.
