CEPOL Research and Science Conference 2022
Preparing Law Enforcement for the Digital Age
08 – 10 June 2022 - Mykolas Romeris University, Vilnius, Lithuania
After a hiatus caused by imposed unfavourable external circumstances, CEPOL managed to implement the 2022 edition of the CEPOL European Research & Science Conference in its traditional format in partnership with Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), as part of CEPOL's Justice and Home Affairs Agencies Network presidency programme.
At the premises of the university in Vilnius, around 200 participants gathered to attend more than 70 presentations, delivered by a mix of distinguished international scholars, H2020 project researchers, and so-called pracademics working in the law enforcement field in Europe and internationally.
‘Preparing Law Enforcement for the Digital Age’ had been chosen as the general theme of event for inviting empirical findings and analytic reflexion on familiar and new digital forms of criminal behaviour as well as on the tools, methods, and strategies to counter them. The promise – and challenge - of Artificial Intelligence has been a topic of great interest, but not less as contributions discussing the potential of digitalisation for training, education and practice of policing and other law enforcement activities.
The dense exchange of ideas, insights, or reactions happening at live conferences and the reach opportunity for networking cannot be simply preserved or conveyed via a website. However, the Highlights Video will allow a sniff of the conference’s general flavour:
Publicly available presentations
Moreover, in continuation of previous good practice, we share and disseminate here, with the permission of the individual authors, a major part* of the presentation files for the benefit of a broader audience. The contributions are ordered hereunder either as presentations at the plenary or aligned along the most relevant conference track.
* The usual disclaimer applies, that all content provided is under the exclusive responsibility of the presenter(s) and protected under European Copyright Law. Additional presentations will become available for registered users of CEPOL’s LEEd platform soon.

About CEPOL Research & Science Conferences
Since 2003, the CEPOL Research & Science Conferences provide a stimulating intellectual environment that brings together ideas and perspectives of practitioners, trainers and educators in policing and other areas of law enforcement, with researchers and academic scholars from Europe and the international sphere. The conference is aiming at the participation of practitioners from European law enforcement forces and institutions, as well as affiliated postgraduate researchers and academic scholars. The conference language is English. There is no conference fee, but prior registration and acceptance by the organisers is obligatory. Papers discussed during CEPOL Research and Science Conferences are published in a special Conference edition, so that ideas and knowledge can be shared within the law enforcement community, fostering and facilitating broader discussions and becoming a source of inspiration for the future.
