3067/2025/WEB ‘Introduction to the Second Additional Protocol’

3067-2025-web

The aim of this webinar is to familiarise law enforcement and judicial authorities with the tools provided by the Cybercrime Convention and its Second Additional Protocol (2AP) for international cooperation and electronic evidence disclosure. It also aims to assist participants in understanding the legal and operational complexities of international cybercrime cases and enhance their ability to implement the 2AP at the national level.

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • explain the key provisions of the 2AP and their relevance to international cooperation in cybercrime investigations;
  • identify potential challenges faced by Law Enforcement Agencies representatives in applying the 2AP provisions;
  • develop strategies for fostering collaboration between practitioners and legislators in the implementation of the 2AP in EU member states.

Combating new forms of organised crime requires more cooperation between police and gendarmes, customs officers, border guards, judges, and prosecutors. EU institutions, agencies and Member States work together to tackle organised and serious international crime through a permanent and key instrument: the European Multidisciplinary Platform Against Criminal Threats (EMPACT).

CEPOL plays a crucial role in the EMPACT mechanism through the provision of specialised training and the identification of training needs within each common security threat. Every year, CEPOL provides a comprehensive training package for each common EU crime priority consisting of onsite, online and exchange training activities.
