E020/2025/EXB Cross-border surveillance & hot pursuit - Article 40 & 41 of the Schengen Convention

The aim of this exchange-bite is to inform European law enforcement officials about law enforcement cooperation and interoperability and topics regarding cross-border surveillance, Article 40 of the Schengen Convention and hot pursuit pursuant Article 41 of the Schengen Convention.

By the end of this Exchange-bite, the audience will be able to:

• Enhance general knowledge and understanding of law enforcement cooperation and interoperability, as we are all working in the same area of police work;
• Highlight the importance of the CEPOL Exchange Programme to facilitate networking and strengthen cross-border cooperation;
• Understand the challenges and problems in the incoming documents and messages for the different areas like SIRENE, Interpol, and Europol, and topics regarding cross-border surveillance under Article 40 of the Schengen Convention and hot pursuit as per Article 41 of the Schengen Convention;
• Strengthen the understanding of the necessity of international collaboration and information sharing;
• Understand the common case management system for Interpol, Europol and SIRENE, and strengthen the bond between the two countries.
