Online Course 2002/2023/ONL: Radicalisation in Prison and Detention Centres

The aim of the activity is to reduce radicalisation in prisons through training participants on how to detect and counter radicalisation, exchange information, apply probation methods and disengagement methods and use the exit programmes.
Upon completion of this online course, participants will be able to:
- Identify the drivers of radicalisation to detect potentially radicalised inmates;
- Recognise the required transversal approach towards countering radicalisation in prisons, especially concerning non-governmental and civil society stakeholders;
- Compare working methods in counter-radicalisation in different MS;
- Develop the improvement of existing methods of radicalisation detection and countering inside prisons, in accordance with fundamental right safeguards;
- Apply existing practices in information sharing to improve the process of investigation;
- Support the design of radicalisation detection guidelines for prison/probation services, in accordance with fundamental rights safeguards;
- Explain the importance of prevention of radicalisation and actively contribute to de-radicalisation and resocialisation efforts;
- Discuss probation methods, disengagement methods and using the exit programmes in prisons.
The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills. The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.
The course will be delivered over a period of 5 days. Participants are expected to study around 2-5 hours per day during this period. Whilst there is no specific time slot when participants shall be available for completing the course tasks, they should follow the training continuously on a daily basis. Live sessions attendance is mandatory.

Selected participants have to be registered to CEPOL's Law Enforcement Education platform LEEd where the online activity will take the place.
