Online Course 2007/2023/ONL: Inter-Agency Law Enforcement Cooperation and Information Exchange within the EU

The aim of the activity is to enhance law enforcement cooperation and information exchange related to serious international and organised crime and terrorism.

After completing this training activity, the participant will be able to:

  • Use procedures and information exchange mechanisms between EU Member States, JHA agencies (e.g. EUROPOL, FRONTEX, Eurojust) and relevant partners (e.g. INTERPOL);
  • Share practical experiences in the use of other tools (e.g. Prüm Decisions, Swedish Initiative);
  • Apply the procedures to access VIS, EURODAC, ETIAS, EES etc. for law enforcement purposes;
  • Use of the Schengen Information System (SIS) in the field of police cooperation and judicial cooperation in criminal matters;
  • Use the EMPACT for detection and  investigation of cross border crime;
  • Facilitate cross-border communication and information exchange on cross-border crime investigations; 
  • Apply the rules of data protection and other fundamental rights safeguards to the law enforcement information exchange;
  • Apply the rules on data quality.

The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.

In case you are interested to attend, please contact your local CEPOL National Unit / CEPOL National Contact Point as soon as possible. Deadline for nominations by CEPOL National Units: 10 November 2023. 

Selected participants have to be registered to CEPOL's Law Enforcement Education platform LEEd where the online activity will take the place.


This course is implemented by the CEPOL Knowledge Centre on Interoperability.
