Online Course 2016/2025: Foreign terrorist fighters and travelling terrorists from conflict areas to Sub-Saharan and Sahel regions

The aim of this online course is to enhance the knowledge and operational capacity of law enforcement
practitioners in addressing the threats posed by foreign terrorist fighters (FTF’s) and travelling terrorists from
conflict areas to the Sub-Saharan and Sahel Regions.
Upon completion of this training activity, participants will be able to:
- Describe the most recent threats, challenges and opportunities of dealing with FTFs/HRI/Travelling Terrorists/Returnees and their families;
- Explain the main different approaches within the EU in the con text of working with FTFs/HRI/Travelling Terrorists/Returnees and their families;
- Apply a risk-based approach to developing risk profiles/common risk indicators;
- Provide a general overview of the EU legal framework in the context of FTFs/Travelling Terrorists and their families;
- Explain the challenges in ensuring accountability for those individuals affiliated with terrorist groups operating in Sub-Saharan and Sahel Regions.
The course will be held entirely in English, therefore it is essential that nominated officials possess appropriate language skills (at least B2 level). The entire activity will be carried out online hence the physical presence of participants will not be required.
However, the course will include scheduled live online sessions, mainly in the mornings, for which the participants presence is mandatory. In addition to the live sessions, the participants are expected to dedicate time to read through compulsory pre-course study material before the training to fully benefit from the activity.

Selected participants have to be registered to CEPOL's Law Enforcement Education platform LEEd where the online activity will take the place.
