Webinar 3098/2022: Investigation of core international crimes

The aim of the webinar is to introduce and present the area of core international crimes (genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes) and the particularities of investigating these crimes within the EU, especially in the context of the armed conflict in Ukraine.

By the end of this webinar, the audience will be able to:

• Explain substantive international criminal law and the role of the European Network of Contact Points for investigation and prosecution of genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes (introductory level);
• Give a presentation on investigative specifics of core international crimes (including practical issues involved in case-building, evidentiary challenges, role of NGOs and international cooperation issues);
• Discuss cases of prosecution for core international crimes, in particular war crimes, gaining knowledge of best practices to be applied in relation to the armed conflict in Ukraine.
