Updated online modules on the Schengen Information System are available for self-paced learning

CEPOL is pleased to announce that two updated online modules on the Schengen Information System (SIS) are available on its education platform, LEEd.
The objective of the "SIS for end-users" online module is to provide a comprehensive overview of SIS to help end-users understand SIS and use it effectively in the performance of their daily tasks. It is targeted at all law enforcement officials, border guards, judicial officers, migration officials or other end-users who are authorised to access data in SIS.
The module has been updated to reflect the changes brought about by the new EU regulations on SIS. These changes include new alert categories such as alerts on return, preventive alerts, alerts on inquiry checks, alerts on unknown wanted persons, as well as new object alert categories. It also covers the use of biometric data in SIS and fingerprint searches in the SIS Automated Fingerprint Information System (AFIS) component.

The "SIS for SIRENE" updated online module helps to provide SIRENE bureaux operators with the knowledge and skills they require in their daily work. It aims to complement their national training, strengthen the quality of cooperation between the SIRENE Bureaux and support the effective use of SIS.
This new version incorporates the changes brought in by the new SIS regulations and, in particular, the new rules on the exchange of supplementary information found in the new SIRENE manual. This includes the new SIRENE forms, the new procedures on the exchange of supplementary information related to all the SIS alert categories, the revised consultation procedures for alerts on return and refusal of entry and stay, and the exchange of supplementary information with Europol. This module is only available for SIRENE operators.
